Stacy Westfall – the woman who rides bareback

It was back in 2006 that a video of a woman riding her horse bareback and bridle-less in competition took the world by storm – it went viral. It was shown on the TV news at the time and shortly there after the young woman and her horse appeared on the Ellen Degeneras show.  Below is the video of her on the Ellen show.

While that maybe old news to those of you who saw Stacy and Roxy perform, I was reminded of it by a fake story that is currently making the rounds on Facebook. It has Stacy as a deaf mute who only took 20 days to train Roxy to perform her winning run……….wrong, all wrong. So I have found the video (see below) which not only has Stacy Westfall and Roxy but with Stacy’s comments (her voice over) on the video mentioning what is going through her mind during her performance. By the way, if she was deaf she would not mention that she was trying not to listen to what the announcer said before her entering the arena. Roxy, the horse was training with her for more than a year before this competition, no 20 day training miracle.

Roxy, the horse in the videos died in Feb. 2012 at the age of 12.
