If you have watched any of Johnny Depp’s historical action movies you would have noticed that he rides and rides pretty good at that.

In the movie Sleepy Hollow , Depp rode a grey horse named Goldeneye (the horse was called Gunpowder in the movie). He later bought or adopted the horse (depending on which story you read). The rumor mill had it that he heard that the horse was going to be put down (or be sent to the glue factory, again depending on which story) so he adopted it. I find that story strange since horses trained for the movies are rarely treated as throw away items once a movie has finished filming. There are just too many people lining up to buy a horse that a famous actor rode or that the horses are so well trained they are booked for another movie. I have done some deep searching on the internet but I still can’t find out what ever happened to Goldeneye. Incidentally, Goldeneye was reported to only have one eye. I’ll have to watch Sleepy Hollow again to see if that was true or not.

Trivia – Johnny’s mother has a horse farm in Kentucky that Johnny bought for her in 1995.

In the movie The Man Who Cried Johnny rides a beautiful white horse. He plays the part of a gypsy.

Of course you have heard of his riding accident on The Lone Ranger set. Here, in his own words, is how Johnny explains the whole incident in great detail to David Letterman. He also mentions that he has ridden a lot in his movies.
